The Long Weekend - THE GOOD AND THE BAD

Hi Everyone...Hope you all had a lovely long weekend.

To my readers who celebrated CNY, hope you had a wonderful time with family and friends not forgetting all those yummy food and traditional dishes. May the Year of the Fire Monkey be a good one for all of us.

A dashing monkey in a suit to boot!

It wasn't even Valentine's but the recent long weekend proved to be very much enjoyable for us HusbieWifey as we got to spend some quality time together. Well, the first two days lar yang best. Tak gi mana pun. Spent our long weekend in KL with no jam, just amongst the holiday crowds in malls/main places tourists go to kill time.

The best was last Sunday where we went to check out Ikea Cheras to buy some household items. It was our first time there and with many being out of town we had no problems parking. There were still many people though so I can't imagine the crowd during any of the usual weekends.

We only go to Ikea after making a list of things we need to buy with some extras i.e. impulse purchases if and when we see fit. Tak main ar jadi tourists in Ikea. Jalan-jalan hassling among the crowd is so not fun. I love to see Hubs assemble items bought. Simple ones of course. Wouldn't want a repeat of continuous cussing overheard from the kitchen when he tried to assemble the metal cabinet the last time.

Did you guys know that for Ikea Cheras, they operate differently in terms of delivery and assembly services? In PJ, you'd only have to wait for one group to deliver and assemble your furniture whereas for purchases made from Cheras, you'd have to wait for two separate contractors/agents for delivery and assembly separately. Haiyooh, cannot keluar rumah lar. Next time buy from Ikea Curve ajerla!

The worst was on Monday of which the effects from the day lasted till Tuesday. I told Hubs I was not in the mood to go jalan-jalan.  NO, NO, NO...don't want to listen to Wifey kan?! After doing our house chores in the morning, waiting for the Ikea people and having our late lunch, I would have preferred to stay home, rest and study. Exam dah dekat. I'm still way behind in meeting my own personal deadline. Well, we don't always get what we want do we???!

Cue my long rant.

Hubs' relatives came from Penang over the long weekend. We were at his family's house everyday. Forget that my bro had his birthday on Monday. Yeah, my bro declined my invitation to go makan-makan as he had plans already but I still wanted to insist for lunch on Tuesday if possible to which I had to forego in the end as well. Reason? You will read it below. If I were to do that to any of his bros Hubs would have surely thrown a fit I am sure. UNFAIR I tell you! I get that we have an obligation to entertain family members and relatives but balance it out please.

Don't worry. This is not the bad bit. The bit that I am holding him accountable till the end of our days is this...

That evening, his parents told us to meet up at KLCC. This was on the pretense that it will not be long and I would still have time to cover at least a bit of my studies that night. Ok. KLCC it is.

UTTER COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME! SO NOT FUNNY!!!

One of my seriously MAIN pet peeves is to go somewhere and BERLEGAR. Like seriously just stand around doing nothing! Literally stand AROUND waiting for the Wrath of God or sumin. If cuci mata tengok-tengok survey pun I don't mind OK. Going into shops for nothing! Not surveying, looking out for something in particular or buying anything! TOTALLY FOR NO REASON.

After the huge Tanglung picture session, we took the kids to Toys R Us.

One of the things I highlighted to Hubs was it didn't sit well with me that we brought his less-well-off nephews and niece to Toys R Us. Just like retail bankers KNOW YOUR CUSTOMER and CUSTOMER'S CUSTOMER policy, we should KNOW OUR FAMILY lar. Have a plan. If it was with the intention to purchase and belanja them takper. Not to tengok-tengok. Just went in to entertain the nephew from his own family, whom is better off of course compared to the other nephews, to play at the lego area. Do you know how tiny that area is? To cram all three of his nephews, one niece, other kids and parents manning the kids in that small corner of the toy store for sure cannot lar.

One particular observation I relayed to Hubs was how one of his nephews was holding a medium sized Minion Plush toy. Holding it and telling his mum it's Rm19.90. No, it wasn't ok. Mum told him to put it back cos' it's actually RM199. Luckily, secretly Hubs and I already bought some Legos from Bricks Store for the boys and a plush toy for the little girl the day before but were only to give it to them that night. Again, not the so-bad bit.

After, we spent a good half hour to 40 minutes just standing around in front of Toys R Us debating where to go next. I was already sitting down on the floor. Not long as FIL and BIL came over to enquire. Final decision, MITSUI! Arghhh!!! SO FAR! To bring the relatives jalan-jalan! Ok, still not too bad. Neither of us had been to Mitsui as yet. The worst was yet to come as after Mitsui the plan was to have dinner at Bagan Lalang. I have my suspicion on whose brilliant idea it was to go there especially when it was close to 6pm when we reached Mitsui. Should have gone straight to Bagan Lalang from KLCC. But NOOOOOOOO.

Upon reaching Mitsui, we spent over an hour of sitting on the bench doing I-SWEAR-I-DON'T-KNOW WHAT. I didn't even go into the shops, just window shopped as we passed by the shops. The sales were OK but I wasn't looking for anything in particular. The relatives too seemed blur to kill time. Most of us spent our time on the bench in Mitsui. I'd rather have brought them somewhere where the kids could play about.

Whilst sitting on the bench, we tried to hurry all to leave for Bagan Lalang. Even suggested other places to go to. With a party of 12 people it would be no easy feat to get a table. When we relayed info that the wait in Bagan Lalang could take up to two hours if we're late, those who had not been there took it as us exaggerating info. NOOOO, don't want to believe us right? We left around 7'ish, through the jam, and reached Bagan Lalang close to 9pm.

Total time spent in Bagan Lalang, 20 blardy bleepin' minutes! AFTER AN HOUR'S DRIVEEEEE FROM MITSUI!!!!!  After observing for themselves the massive crowd there, they declared as "Takder Harapan" and debated where else to go.

Oh no, don't believe the people who had been there right? We're just exaggerating right? Sometimes, you just have to let them experience it themselves to believe it. Well, it should not have been at the expense of those who had experienced it before and with kids in tow. Through the jam and not well lit areas some more. Nasib baik budak tak ngigau.

So to save the day, Hubs suggested we head to Saba'a in Cyberjaya. Kids were already asleep by the time we reached there. Dinner time was 10:45pm for us.

Hooray ... (Sense the sarcasm here please).

Even then Hubs wanted everyone to be seated first before ordering. Here, I had to put my foot down and forced him to order and add on later if necessary. The restaurant closes at 1130pm.

We reached home close to 1am. The whole night my body ached and I was in pain whilst sleeping.

Next day, FEVER for me please!Ding!

Urghhhh...bad enough I didn't get my roti boom at the place I wanted that morning. We went to his family home and stayed there from morning till past 2pm. Whilst there, I couldn't take it anymore and had to go upstairs to sleep off my medication.

Total of TWO days wasted. Still want to cry whenever I think of it.

So leaves me 3 days with some serious cramming session minus this hour of blogging.

So, got fooled twice with "Jalan-Jalan" episode. The first was where we got stuck in the Thaipusam procession in KL sometime last year. Nasib baik tak cirit time tu. Dah sakit perut but tahan wei.

For sure, when I have kids, I shall not entertain such jalan-jalan session with no plans. I'm game for jalan-jalan but dekat-dekat where it would be convenient for me and the children. Budak nak tukar pampers, tido, minum susu and makan on time, merengek with Mummy frustrated as the minutes go by would not be an ideal combo. Just hope then we all have our priorities in mind when suggesting places to go.

Some Rambo Action

One very sunny afternoon, as I was on my way to meet Husbie for lunch and crossing the street, a guy in a blue shirt on a motorcycle spotted me and slowed down. Mind you, the moment I hear motorcycles roaring nearby, I get extra antsy and make sure my handbag is on the opposite side of the oncoming road.

He kept looking...

I was nearer to the road now and he's further down the road, but still kept looking back towards me...ok, ok, chill...

He kept on looking...

Woi!Motor dah jauh pun dok sibuk tengok tu apehal...aku tau lar aku cantik tapi I don't think I'm THAT gorgeous!

He had started to make a U-TURN

Oh S**T...

I crossed the road ASAP...masuk celah bushes sikit...selit between some trees...and made it into my car. Nasib baik Pakcik dalam van kasi lepas dulu...

Phewwwhhh...

Sekarang don't play-play, siang terang-benderang pun people are still up to no good. Girls, be extra wary and vigilant of your surroundings. Guys, don't think you're unlikely to become a target. Criminals nowadays are bold, super desperate and just don't care. Your life is something they're willing to sacrifice for a measly few bucks.

The Lacking of Soft Skills and PR Among Our Peeps

My view is that at times,  as part of our "working hazards", we do get close encounters with those I consider unprofessional, no decorum or respect for others. We're talking about (assumingly) educated people tau!

"No need to set up meeting with my Boss or Director. We decide and WEEE recommend!" (Alternatively, I can recommend you rephrase your statement to "You're very much welcomed to do so. Do you have his/her PA's number? However, for your information, our internal process is where XXXX")

"What for? I don't have time to send your document! I don't now where I put it"
(Hmmm, you can say it a more diplomatic and nicer way lar woman! Plus, not knowing where you've placed a document shows your inept and inefficiency in organising your work)

Talking to my friends about it, it seems that this behaviour is very much widespread across industries in our country. Bankers dealing with corporate clients with over RM50mil nettworth boleh hentak-hentak phone and berteriak at the client. Customers criticising products openly but later on kata suka pulak. Have we become so desensitized in dealing with people? Pelik-pelik.

PR and soft skills are key in maintaining rapport with people regardless ada relationship or not. Whereever you go, you are the face of your firm/company/business/family etc.

I think orang stress sebab GST kots...Maybe tak cukup sumin sumin at home kots...

You know what, I can continue over-analysing it and sooooo many "kots" will come up...I don't care if you have to do it with a tree to take the edge off! Cakap tu elok-elok. I have to remind my staff that when encountering such people, we shouldn't lower our class to such uncouth people. Just maintain our cool and tone when speaking. If need be, be firm and cut the conversation short. These kind of people are insignificant. There will be a time when we will be the ones to one-up these kind of people.

p.s.: By the way, these kind of behaviours in all recent occasions were exhibited by WOMEN! Shame on you! Booooo!

Hindustani Lurve

We were watching TV when Dr. Fadzilah Kamsah's ad came on. He was doing a Hindustani bit, I assume, as one of the many examples a husband can 'woo' his wife.

Moi': "How come you never express your love to me in Hindustan?"

Husbie: "Hem...ppprrrrr....Ka...Kaaaaa"

Moi': "Ok, point taken."

Haiz, I think I need to enrol him in Romance 101 soon.

Flower Pots

One morning, I pointed out to Husbie how some have started planning their Valentine's this year.

"I want flowers this year."

"But you said you never want flowers. It's a waste of money and it dies easily. Besides, everything hikes up on that day."

"Yeah, true. So you better get me flowers by the 9th. 10th onwards florists will start hiking their prices up."

" How do you know? Maybe they'll start hiking their prices up sooner? Mana tau most people will be like you and exchange gifts earlier. "

"Argghh, I don't care! We can go to Sungai Buloh for all I care and purchase a bunch of flower pots!"

"Lagi puas...cantik rumah sikit."

[Yes, yeeeeess...plans are going according to plan. Now, pretend to be slightly miffed to finally get those damn flower pots on your lawn.]

"Hmppph...ok. Then biler gaji masuk, we'll go to Sungai Buloh k?"

Tips on posting up your holiday pictures

December/ Early January is usually the time you see many of your friends and family sharing their holiday pictures. I am one of those whom truly enjoy viewing them as it gives an idea how and where to spend my next holiday. Plus, looking at all those smiley faces enjoying their time gives off a good vibe...

Surprisingly, not many people know this, I recommend fb'ig or instagramming your holiday pictures AFTER that said holiday or once you're actually back home. Yeah, you may limit your account to friends and family but you never know who is actually viewing your profile. Advertising you're away from home is NOT a good idea.

The same concept applies to sharing your location when you're still there. Not a good idea. Even Paris Hilton shares location and pictures after she's actually not where the pictures were taken anymore.

Please stay on guard and be safe...especially us gurls ok?

Fare thee well...

Came in the office and was greeted with a bag of goodies on my desk. Yay!!!

The day continued with lunch in the office held by staff for several occasions including to wish me farewell and all the best. And of course, more goodies from my team!

Sitting back at my chair, staring at my neat desk and bare drawers, I do feel sad. I'd be lying to say that I'm 100% ecstatic over leaving the organisation. Nonetheless, I have to move forward. Thank you to my superiors and colleagues for all the support. I have learnt a lot and will hopefully be able to apply them in the near future. Insyaallah, we'll meet again soon. Don't be shy to say hi if you ever bump into me at the shopping malls or pasar malams. Whenever you want to have a chat, I'm just a phone call away.

Rant #2: If you don't have anything constructive to say, just zip it!

I don't like to rant on my blog but this time round I just have to let it out.

I'm in my final stages of recovery. Insyaallah, my MRI is scheduled end of this month to see whether the PRP treatments were a success and my ligaments are finally connected again.

When out shopping for groceries or on dates with Boyfie, I get tired easily. My foot would ache a lot even after a short distance. My movements are limited. I miss my circuit exercises. I miss traveling. I miss doing a lot of things I used to take for granted. Despite all that, Alhamdulillah, I am walking steadily and the Doc had advised me to be patient and confirmed my progress is remarkably good. From my last visit, he admitted he was truly worried as my injury was truly severe. I am thankful that the swelling is not as much as the initial stages. I hope I will recover soonest possible and wear sexy shoes and go to the gym again.

At work, I try to limit my movements. I walk with a cane. I still "enjoy" the allocated parking thanks to my Doc's letter to my organisation. What upsets me these days is on how strangers and even some colleagues of mine would give idiotic comments on the pretense they actually give a damn!

" Eh, still on a cane??? Lamaaanyeeerrr!" (Yes, you saying that helps a lot. JERKK!!!)

" Why soooo loooooooooooonggg?" ( Yes, I LOVVVEEE using the cane to help me walk. IDIOT!!)

" You look like you're taking the cane for a walk" (I would have taken that comment as a compliment/ an encouraging statement if not for the stupid look you gave me)

" Just force yourself...I'm sure it's ok" (Yeah? Since when did you get your Medical Degree or become a physiotherapist? I've spent time and money on treatments and recovering, and you want me to trust your TWO CENTS???!!!)

People...PLEASEE!!!I am faring well. I AM DOING GREAT! May I suggest that the next time you see me, if you truly care for me, just wish me well and buzz off! I don't need your stupid and idiotic comments. I already have a doctor. I tore five ligaments and opted for live cell injections to limit my medical leave. If I had opted for an operation, I would have been on MC for 7 whole months excluding recovery time.

Besides, whether I am on a cane etc does not concern you. I don't block your walkways, I don't owe you anything, my work is completed on time. WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TO GIVE STUPID COMMENTS WHICH IN NO WAY LESSEN MY WORRIES! I am the one in pain, not you! It's my ankle, not yours!!! Stop being so nosy! Imagine colleagues within the organisation of more than 2000++ people, whom I do not even know, everyday in the lift, or on the way to the canteen, or cafe, or the parking lot, one way or another will make stupid comments. EVERYDAY I will have to smile through and be civil. Well, NO MORE!

If any of you make any kind of stupid remarks tomorrow, WATCH OUT!

A$$H***!!!

Today started off great. L* invited me out for a late lunch and I needed to return her earrings and bracelets anyway. Chatted, catch up and what not. Worth the drive to Prima Duta despite my condition.

It was when I returned home I got pissed. I swore when I started off this blog I will not use this medium to rant. But I just can't tahan anymore. It's about this jerk neighbor I have never met before...until today. Basically his car blocked half of my gate. So, how the hell am I supposed to drive in? I honked hormat three times. NO RESPONSE! Then one LOOOONGGGG one, and still no response. Coincidentally one guard passed by and I asked whether he knows the owner of the car. He doesn't know. ONE OTHER LOOONGGG ANGRY honk. Finally, the asshole -whose -balls -are -super -small -where -you -have -to- use -a- microscope -if -you -wanna see -it comes out. And he has the audacity to marah me!!! WHAT THE EFFFFF!!! IT IS I WHO SHOULD BE SCOLDING AND SHOUTING AT YOU!!!! YOU EFFING A$$H***!!!

"You cannot call me is it?"
"I honked so many times already."
"You're so rude you know that"
"You're the one who's rude, blocking people's houses"
"You can masuk what...can fit" (This I assume cos I drive a kelisa celah longkang also can fit laaarr)
"WHERE can fit???!!!"
"WHY COULDNT YOU CALL ME???!!"
"Nak call haperrr...I'm wearing crutches!!!!" (crutches depan mata dia at passenger seat I)

He drives off!!!! Hello...macha...you silap, just say sorry and EFF off!!! You block rumah orang, so it is YOUR EFFIN obligation to pay attention and move it when necessary...lagi-lagi when you block rumah orang!!! I don't even know you and you expect me to go to the houses nearby asking for the owner of the car??? You're so famous is it with your gold car for me to know you are the owner???

100% A$$H***

Next time I am going to write "love notes" on your car windows with liquid paper and you can have fun getting them off!!! You have hands and money what...can do it

(Time tengah marah tadi lar I couldn't find the damn camera in my handbag. Should have taken a picture of the car blocking my house and the face of the A$$H***)

What's up, Karipap???

I just want to take this opportunity to voice my concern over the programmes being aired in TLC and other channels under ASTRO these days. Mainly it relates to how much food-related programmes are being aired these days. All I see on TV are shows on food, food and more food. Yeah, I like food just as much as the other person but have we lost interests in culture, beauty and other wonders of the world? Yes, food is part and parcel of life and is also one of the elements that one must try in getting to know the country they opted to visit. But what about other things? Art? Culture? History? Architecture? Nature? Adventure? What about staying active and loving life? Tips on places to visit and things to do when visiting extraordinary places? Not everything has to be about food!!! Malaysia's obesity rate is increasing and airing more food programmes is not helping. Yeah, it does give suggestions on cooking your own home-cooked and healthier meals etc. But what it does is that it makes people think about nothing else BUT food.

Yeah, you can easily say that if I don't like it, why won't I just switch channels or switch off the TV totally? Well, for one thing, switching channels is not an option. Other channels are also airing food-related programmes. Switch off the TV? Yeah, I've done that too...but at times, we normal people do need some TV time. (By the way, I do read books etc too...just in case people want to take the opportunity to tembak me there...sheesshh).

So please...bring some art, culture, and beautiful landscapes and travelogues to the TV. Keep a balance between food related programmes and those programmes to inspire to get out of their comfort zones.I hope my appeal does not fall onto deaf ears... :(

The Paaaaaaaiiiiinnnnn!!!

I think I have to go back to the clinic at my office tomorrow to ask for a referral to another private clinic or hospital. First, I have to come in tomorrow and check with our office policy.

The doc's current pain meds is not working and I am in terrible pain. Never thought the pain from a sprain can be so lingering. Feels like hot needles have been poked in my right ankle. Though the right side of my right ankle is the main affected area, it feels like the pain is spreading and creeping to my toes and to my whole ankle. I cannot sleep and whenever I try to, I end up waking up screaming and patting my ankle.

Oh eemmmm geeeeeee!!! Think happy thoughts...HAPPY THOUGHTTTSSS... Aaaarrrghhhh!!!
