Cameron Goodies

So with the current heatwave, Husbie and I are not feeling up to par. Husbie sampai kena berpantang to guard his temperature. No red meat, spicy food, fried stuff, heaty stuff. I pulak tak expert in determining what's heaty and what's not. To play it safe, cook soupy stuff and steam everything.

So after work, we received some goodies from Cameron Highlands. Aper lagi, best lar sumbat all the fresh veges in my soup and I soooo can't wait to kukus my jagung and keledek madu.

Since dah lama tak masak, Husbie happy dapat makan home cooked meal time time hujan nih (yes, yes...things have been on overdrive at work so by the time sampai rumah all I want to do is sit on my couch and watch TV). Esok steamed fish and asparagus for dinner pulak, Insya Allah. Ok cayaaaang?

Johor Day Trip

Watching the coronation the other day, can't help recall my first visit to Johor was almost 20 years ago. Back then it was because I was offered a place in STF, where I only lasted for a few months, before I decided to come back to KL.

So, recently, when one of my working trips required me to go down to Johor, I was not expecting how much Johor has changed. Definitely progress is good and Johor is developing for the better. International schools being set up in the State, many major, modern and high-classed developments underway and a dramatic increase in the hustle and bustle of Johor (don't think the jams are plus points though. Something unavoidable for the sake of progress).

Throughout my day trip, Husbie forwarded screen shots of his kakao chats with his ASAS gang...

"Apa makanan best boleh beli tapau kalau singgah muar?"

"Mee bandung, mee rebus, yong tau foo goreng, asam pedas"

"Lontong, sambal goreng jawa"

"Murtabak singapore, apam balik, kopi 434"

"Kadang2 ada orang jual kupang tepi jalan..murah jugak...balik rebus atau buat sambal best"

Haiz, untuk tekak suami, anything.

Only thing is...there are no R&Rs or pit stops along Muar. In order to sample such fares, I would have to drag my bosses and drive into Muar town itself. So scratch that, just borong at one of the R&Rs. Lady boss belanja...borong buah and macam-macam jajan. I, however, managed to tapau one packet of mee bandung for Husbie.

Ok larr tuuu...next time yer cayang!

Mee Bandung, too pedas for Husbie to handle.

Yapaneeeeseeee

Husbie and I love Japanese food. I'm thankful he's not the type yang memilih or picky with his food so lagi senang nak try itu ini.

Kebetulan kat KLCC hari tu, teringin pulak nak makan Japanese for dinner. Masuk Kedai X nih. Tak pernah try pun tapi pernah baca blog, blogger nih kata best. Frust! Masuk - masuk dia terus direct seat right in front of the entrance. Belakang seat suami pulak penuh ngan baby chairs. Tengok ada ajer seat kat dalam and no 'RESERVED' signs.

"Miss, may we have seats inside? I see there are empty tables there. Sumore, here panas. Tak rasa aircond."

"Dalam also panas. (Muka muncung walked off)"

Tempeleng kang! (Dalam hati). Kalau malas no need. I know dah petang but the usual dinner crowd time nih aper...Panasssss (panas badan and hati)...

So I sat quietly at the table...redha ajer la...flipping the menu with dissatisfaction.

"Dah, dah. Kalau you dah macam nih, we better leave. Tak best kang makan."

"Yerla. If nak show us to the table pun malas what will it say about their food service!"

So we walked off...I perasan minah waitress and cashier mata terbeliak kejut. Well, you taknak layan elok-elok we jalan dulu. We're paying good money for good food and service.

Walked off RIGHT INTO UMAIYA!

No regrets! Never tried it before but service and ambience semua bagus and paling penting, tak panas and no minah or mamat jebek-jebek. Dia takder bento but sashimis, makis etc semua fresh and sedap! Their green tea wheat soba comes in a huge bowl of ice to retain my cold soba throughout. It was yummy and a nice experience, felt like I was eating off a small boat! Heheh...

The 'Slaughterhouse'

So one day after facial, alang-alang dah dekat, we decided to visit the new Jakel building. It was so hot during the day, nasib baik didn't ruin all my beautician's efforts. We parked at the usual place...since we weren't sure where the new building was. So it was quite a walk to make our way there. Hari tu time pasar Jalan TAR, lagi lar you feel the heat.

Sampai-sampai ajer, WOW! Besarnya! According to Husbie, the new location was formerly an empty site so to think they built it from ground up means business is really good. The new building even has its own parking so sesiapa nak datang you can park at their allotted space. They suggested masuk ikut Cap Square lagi senang. It was also on that same day, I discovered one of their strategic arsenals... What is it?

HAPPY HOUR

We sampai-sampai ajer baru start Happy Hour. What is Happy Hour? It's where they drop their prices so low it's impossible not to buy their fabrics! It's at selected sections of their building at a selected time and for just 10 minutes! They will have it on Fridays to Sundays, at no specific time. Biler ramai orang ajer they will have it. So you won't even have time to browse or think twice. Ambik ajer yang mana suka! I almost skipped it to naik atas but Husbie suruh give it a go. Seriously, lagi muka merah berpeluh. Sepasang kain silk berbatu RM189 jadi RM50, washable silk RM88 junam jadi RM50.

So much for just looking and checking out the new place.

I came out with 6 pasang, nanti hantar jahit buat baju kurung and baju kurung modern for work. At one point, I nak gelak time-time the racks kena serbu, this one dude (teman wife dia kot) siap terpegun kat tengah-tengah jalan screaming "Ya Allah! Ya Allah!". Don't underestimate your wife's behaviour masa crazy sales k! The smart ones stand aside and watch the show, including my Husbie. Ajak terjah the crowd to have a closer look dia tak mo, so aper lagi, I bring the batang kain terus to him. Amek kau!

After paying for my merchandise at the counter and thanking my personal salesgirl, we continued upstairs with out initial mission to survey kain raya. Lagi cantik whoaaa!

"Ooooh, cantik pusat penyembelihan (suami) sekarang. Tak tau pulak diaorang dah buat pusat penyembelihan macam nih" ("Ohhh, such a nice 'slaughterhouse' (for husbands). Didn't know they have these kind of slaughterhouses these days")

Husbie ingat I tak dengar dia ngomel sorang-sorang. Biler letak dalam FB baru dia tau how observant his wife is.
